The production of fresh fruit is an extremely energy-intensive business and therefore, in order to reduce the carbon footprint of the group, in 2008 the first solar-PV power plant was installed on the rooftop of the group’s headquarters in Laives, Bolzano.
Today, the roofs of all 5 production halls are covered with solar-PV panels producing around 10 million kWh of green energy each year. Currently, the group is expanding its portfolio by three further power plants and is revamping the two oldest existing power plants to guarantee highest production.
By continuously adding new plants to the group’s portfolio, by the end of 2024 the yearly production of renewable energy will amount to approximately 30 million kWh.
